#helpSanji - Help Sanji Watson through Cancer

Sanji Watson is the little woman who drives the big bus at Western Carolina University (WCU). Those of us who know and love this wonderfully kind woman would like to ask for your help in her time of need. Let us tell you a little about her:

 

She is small in stature but drives the largest bus in use on the campus. Her skill in maneuvering the bus is noted by all her fellow drivers. The university students who ride her bus greet her at the door and know her by name. As in all aspects of her interaction with others, Sanji is a character!

 

Sanji was born and raised in the mountains of Western North Carolina. She knows more about the genealogy and history of the multi-generational families in the region than you can imagine. She researches such information in and around Jackson County, NC. Her vivid recollections of growing up in The Blueridge are a treasure to those of us who have had the pleasure of allowing her to paint a picture of the past for us. She can tell you who built the stills, who operated them, what holler they hid them in, who ran the liquor, what routes they took, what engine was under the hood of the car they used, who got caught, who got away, and on and on...all delivered with her unique and rich dialect and flavor. Sanji Watson is a character.

 

Sanji is a child and servant of the God she worships. Her heart IS the heart of gold. She is always willing to help those in need in the area. There are many whose hearts have been lifted by her kindness. It may be finding a source of some free firewood for an elderly person in need, or it may be finding some free groceries for a family out of work. If Sanji becomes aware of someone in need she does not just talk, Sanji acts. Each Christmas she gathers food and clothing that she delivers to a very economically depressed area in West Virginia. The extent of her “gathering” sometimes requires her to transport the Christmas aid in a box truck which she is QUITE capable of driving.

Sanji is a compassionate woman who loves to help others. She is an active supporter of Veterans, she provides delicious meals for them and participates in fundraisers.  

Sanji is a mother and a grandmother. Her husband has recently been very ill requiring costly medical care. Several weeks ago, Sanji received the diagnosis that she has cancer. She will have surgery this week followed by months of treatment. This time, Sanji is the one who needs help. Please help us return the kindness that this wonderful soul has offered to so very many others.
