Help Murphman!
This is an effort to raise $7700.00 for spinal surgery and aftercare for our 4 year old dachshund Murphy.
**Please read the Update below**
Murphy is a very energetic and playful pup by nature, but this has changed as of late. He is no longer willing to chase his tennis ball or play with his stuffed toys. After a trip to his vet, we were told that Murphy is experiencing trouble with his spinal cord. The vet suggested that we go see a neurologist, so we did. We were again told that Murphy does in fact has a slipped disk in his spine. The slipped disk is resulting in Murphy's inability to walk. In the matter of a month Murphy went downhill quickly, to the point where he can barely hold himself up. Because of this, Murphy is strictly bound to his cage in an effort to curb any further injury.
****UPDATE AS 3/14/2013
Because of the remarkable support we've received so far, from friends, family and even strangers, we were able to schedule a tentative surgery date for Murphy, next Tuesday, March 19th. Based on the hopes that we will reach our goal of $6000 before this weekend is over, we wanted to act quickly because to prevent further damage. UNFORTUNATELY upon scheduling the surgery, we were informed of the aftercare and prescription costs which we were previously unaware of. These costs could total $1700 or more even. We have adjusted our goal to reflect these additional costs, and hope that the kindness and support we have seen so far will continue to allow us to help Murphman get back on his feet.
