A couple weeks ago Min spiked a high fever and developed an infection in his lymph node, creating an abscess in his neck which we later learned was life threatening. We were told that if Min were to have waited 2 or 3 more days, the abscess would have closed his airway and would have cost him his life. Because Min does not have health insurance, he refused treatment in fear that he would not be able to afford it.

When the hospital told him that he qualified for a benefit program and that all expenses for his stay at the hospital would be covered, Min agreed to the surgery and any other treatment. After spending 4 nights in the hospital he was discharged. However, we recently found out that he may not be eligible for the program.

Min is looking at an estimate of $20,000 in medical expenses. Currently, he is not financially capable of paying off his bills. In addition, due to his recent surgery, Min has not been able to work and needs help to cover his medical expenses.
