Help Marc & Lynda Marion

Donation protected
1/5/2021:
A good man has passed on from this world.  Marc Marion died peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Monday January 4th at 10:52pm.  He was 69 years of age.

A note from Christa, his daughter:

“My precious dad passed away last night in his own home after a Herculean effort on all of my family , the caring and skilled staff at Skagit Valley Hospital and the incredible team at Hospice of the Northwest who pulled out all the stops and moved mountains to give Dad his final wish which was to make it home to be with his family in his final moments. The grief is unthinkable and this all happened so fast that we struggle to wrap our minds around the loss.

But one thing I know, is that my dad’s heart was huge and he held on long enough for us to get him home. He took his final breaths surrounded by his beloved family and with his dog nestling her head into his sweet hand.

This was a rare man, beloved by so many people whose lives have been touched and changed by his love. He will be forever missed.”

1/10/2021:

Thank you so much to everyone who has brought meals, shared stories and memories, and donated to help cover expenses.   This has been one of the most difficult, heart opening, and strikingly beautiful weeks of my entire life.

My sister Christa says it well here from a few days back,

"So much love has been sent our way in this tragic time. I want to thank you all for all the support, love, meals, donations, kind words, etc. So many are asking how we are so I wanted to post this because I find it impossible to talk to anyone bedsides my family yet.
We have been holding each other close and starting to try to process this shattering grief together. My dad’s kindness and love helped to create a strong fabric of family love and it is currently keeping us all from completely falling apart.

My mom is the strongest woman I’ve ever met in my life. I am in awe of her. My siblings all have unique gifts and we share them with each other to heal. That’s not to say there are moments and days where that we are falling apart. And then back together. And then apart again. We keep saying how “weird” grief is. Because it is. Even with all my hospice experience, I had no idea what we would be facing. We are gutted. But we have some moments of light and laughter as well. And hikes. And dog pets. And today, will watch the Seahawk game as dad would have wanted us to do. I know he will be there with us. And he is cheering us on with as much joy as you can see on his face in the last photo here. God I miss him."

We had a beautiful hike on Orcas Island today and stood atop a bluff looking out to the Samish flats where my Dad loved to walk.  A bald eagle was soaring far below and as we stood there sharing memories and our tears were falling into the soft earth, the eagle soared up and circled over us surprisingly close and let out a call.  We hugged, and walked back down the mountain feeling the first chapter of this grieving process may be moving to completion.

Thank you all for the support, texts, comments, meals, prayers and everything... it means so much to us in this difficult time.

sincerely,
-Nathan Marion

Previous info about his health battle:

Marc Marion (or Mr Marion as he's known at school) has been teaching in Washington state the past 40 years and helping others for many other years of his life. He's currently in the hospital and struggling to breath. He's fighting to stay alive with a serious lung disease (doctors don't know what causes it, not from smoking or anything he did).

This fundraiser was setup by his kids without his knowledge. All funds will go to support Marc and his wife Lynda. If you'd like to send a little thanks to Mr Marion for his many years of teaching and helping others, you can donate to help them cover medical costs (that aren't covered by insurance) other expenses and to otherwise support them in this difficult time.

On our Caring Bridge site you can also leave Well Wishes and we will be sharing those with him as we're able.   (Please indicate if you were a student of Mr Marion and what year as that helps us build his Learning Legacy card as well. )

 Thank you so much,

-Nathan Marion (Marc's son)
