Help Wissam and his family escape Gaza

Donation protected
The Abu Ishaq family—31-year-old Wissam Rizq, his wife Haneen Majid, 30, and their four children—Yazan, 11, Rafif, 10, Adam, 3, and baby Zain, just one year old—have faced unimaginable hardship since the devastating events of October 7. Before that day, life in Gaza was difficult, but after the bombings, it became a nightmare.

Their home, once a place of comfort, was reduced to rubble in a matter of moments. The family was forced to flee and find refuge in Khan Younis, a city in southern Gaza that has also been heavily impacted. The streets there are littered with debris, and every day brings more destruction. The bombings never seem to stop, each explosion shaking the ground and the family’s sense of safety. The constant fear of death hangs over them, making it impossible to find peace.

The children, who once played in the streets, now flinch at the sound of airplanes overhead, knowing it could mean more devastation. The trauma of watching their city collapse around them has taken an enormous emotional toll on Wissam and Haneen as they try to protect their children from the violence that surrounds them.

Life in Khan Younis offers no relief. There is little food, and survival has become a day-to-day struggle. The family is packed into a temporary shelter, unsure of how long they can hold on. Their only hope is to escape this cycle of terror and find safety beyond the borders of Gaza. This fundraiser is their last chance to raise the funds needed for a passage to Egypt, where they dream of giving their children a life free from the constant threat of bombings and violence.

Here are Wissam's words on the use of the collected funds:

I will wait until the required amount is fully collected. Once the necessary funds are secured, I will go to Hala Travel and Tourism Agency, owned by Mr. Alawi Muhammad Al-Olabi, to arrange for my family and me to leave Gaza for Egypt. I will make the following payments to the agency: $5,000 for myself, Wissam Abu Ishaq; $5,000 for my wife, Haneen Abu Ishaq; $5,000 for my child, Yazan Abu Ishaq; $5,000 for my child, Rafif Abu Ishaq; $1,500 for my child, Adam Abu Ishaq; and $1,500 for my child, Zain Abu Ishaq. Security coordination will be arranged within a few days, with the exact date and time to be determined by the relevant authorities.

We will travel from Khan Younis to the Rafah border crossing by car, for which I will pay $100. Once we cross, we will continue to Al-Arish in Egypt by car, given the proximity of Gaza and Egypt. The cost of transportation to Al-Arish will be an additional $100, and we will rent a house there for two days at a cost of $250. During those two days, I will purchase food for my family, which will cost approximately $150.

After that, we will travel by car to another city in Egypt, for which I will pay $100. Once there, I will rent a house for $300 per month while I look for work so that my family and I can live in peace in Egypt.
