On February 9, while teaching her media class at Somerville High School, Vera experienced a major medical emergency. She’s been hospitalized ever since, suffering from a complex series of symptoms most likely tied to a new recurrence of brain cancer. As you know, Vera bravely navigated breast cancer from 2019-2021, survived a massive brain tumor discovered in 2021, and battled back from dangerous brain cancer in 2023. True to her nature, she is still fighting now despite limited treatment options. Vera and her family once again find themselves in a difficult new chapter together with mounting medical bills, impossible decisions, and overwhelming emotional turmoil. These expenses come at a time when their focus should be on being together as a family and surrounding Vera with love. We are raising funds to help relieve the financial strain of medical care so that Vera’s family can concentrate on what matters most during this time.
