My family and I are facing a difficult time after a severe sewer backup flooded our entire basement. We got about a foot & a half of sewage water. We lost so many precious belongings, including irreplaceable photo memories of loved ones who have passed away, clothing & toys. The damage has been overwhelming—there were feces throughout the basement, our furniture and carpet were ruined, both furnaces and water heater were affected. I’m not even sure if they still work. The flooring in our laundry area will need some work.
We started cleaning up as best we could but there’s still a lot of work to be done. All the water is finally gone, but now mold is appearing in some areas, and the smell of sewage and mold is spreading through our home. Since the water heater has been out, we’ve been without hot water for days. Unfortunately, our insurance company denied our claim, and I’m not sure what more to do. We are now left to handle all the repairs and replacements on our own on top of our daily living. Right now, my spouse, our four children, our cat, and I are living on the main floor, but the smells are getting worse each day. The health and safety of my family are my top priorities, and I’m worried about the risks we’re facing from the mold and lingering sewage odors.
I’ve posted a few photos that were taken once the water finally went down. We’re asking for help to replace damaged furniture, repair the basement, and make our home safe again. Any support will go directly toward cleanup, repairs, and restoring a healthy environment for my family. If you aren’t able to donate please pray for us and share. Thank you for reading our story and considering a donation to help us recover from this setback.
