Help Us Give Our Dad the Goodbye He Deserves

This past weekend on April 12th our dad passed away after a long and relentless fight. One that he had been fighting for a long time, years of illness, endless hospital visits, and most recently, a liver transplant that gave us so much hope. But after weeks of complications, the fight became too much to bare.

If you knew my dad, you know how big his heart was. He was kind, laid back, and the most loyal person you could ever meet. Because of his health, he stayed home while we were growing up, and that turned out to be the biggest blessing. He was always there, for school drop-offs, for late-night talks, for all the little things that added up to something huge. He was truly the heart of our home and the best dad a kid could ask for.

Our dad was one of a kind and we know they don’t make them like that anymore. He was truly a family man. He loved us truly. He is also adored by many of the friends we brought home who also, till this day calls him dad, as he didn’t mind at all assuming the role.

And our mom, he loved our mom. On April 18th they would have been together for 33 years. They were each other’s whole world, and they never stopped choosing each other. She was his light at the end of a long dark tunnel. It breaks our heart that she has to say goodbye to him like this.

That’s why we are here, writing this. My siblings and I don’t want our mom to carry the weight of funeral and memorial costs on her own. We want her to be able to say goodbye to him in whatever way feels right, without having to stress about money. He deserves to be celebrated fully. And she deserves peace right now.
