Hi, my name is Amy. I’m reaching out because I truly don’t know what else to do.
My mom is disabled, wheelchair-bound, and suffering from significant cognitive decline. I’ve been her full-time caregiver — cooking, bathing, advocating, and loving her through every hardship. But recently, we were evicted from our home in Florida, and now everything feels like it’s falling apart.
Our dream — our only goal right now — is to get Mom home to Washington State, where we have family, love, and support. We want her to be surrounded by people who care, where I can continue caring for her in a place that feels safe. But we’re stuck. We have no money for the drive, the gas, the food, or the basic essentials to get her across the country. And time is running out.
Mom only receives $500 a month from Social Security. We’ve been denied food stamps repeatedly in Florida, and her Medicaid won’t transfer until we’re officially in Washington — which means no medical coverage during this vulnerable transition. She doesn’t have the cognitive capacity to navigate this system on her own. That’s where I come in — and I’m doing my best — but…
…I just had surgery. I’ve been battling serious infections and other health issues and haven’t been able to work because of it. Emotionally and physically, I’m completely exhausted. We are doing everything we can, but we can’t make it without help.
Every dollar raised will go toward:
• Gas and food for the cross-country drive
• Temporary lodging or roadside assistance
• Medical care and basic needs until she’s reinstated in Washington
• A fresh, safe start in a place with family support
If you’ve ever watched someone you love slip away — mentally, physically — and felt powerless to stop it, you’ll understand why this matters so much. This is about dignity. This is about not letting her fall through the cracks. This is about coming home.
If you can help, even a little — thank you. And if you can’t donate, please share this.
With all my heart,
Amy
