Help Us Fund the Salt Lake Liberation Center
9/1 UPDATE: We are so grateful to all those who supported our fundraising campaign, whether by sharing or donating to the cause. In addition to the donations shown here in GoFundMe, we have received $1,100 in other donations and t-shirt sales! Thank you for your support! To revolution in our lifetimes!
7/28 UPDATE: For a limited time, you can help us fund the Salt Lake Liberation Center by purchasing a custom socialist t-shirt HERE. Visit SaltLakeLiberationCenter.bigcartel.com for details.
The Salt Lake Liberation Center is a new working-class community center in central Salt Lake City. Staffed by volunteers from the ANSWER Coalition and the Salt Lake branch of the PSL, the Center will be a community organizing hub that bring workers and oppressed people together to struggle around the most crucial issues that we face — from skyrocketing rents, neverending wars, poverty wages and disrespect on the job. Our volunteers are teachers, healthcare workers, students, parents, artists, childcare workers, local residents, community organizers and more.
We’ve organized programs that provide services to our neighbors like wide distributions of tenants’ rights information, survival equipment for our homeless neighbors, and student and teacher supply drives. We are intergenerational, multinational, multi-gendered, working-class people seeking to build working-class power for a society that meets the needs of the people and planet.
We refuse to take money from government grants or corporate sponsors. Like a union or many other types of working-class organizations, we know that the only way to be politically independent from the capitalist class is to be financially independent from it. Each of our members provides monthly dues which funds all of our work in combination with some small donations from working-class supporters.
Here’s an idea of how your donations can support us:
$5 = 1 box of pens to stock up on our supplies
$10 = 2 packages of posterboard for placard-making
$25 = 4 books to fill our bookcases
$50 = 1 month of wi-fi
$100 = 4 hand-painted banners
$150 = distribution of 1,000 tenants' rights informational pamphlets
$250 = food and supplies for a community cookout and educational forum
$400 = half a month's rent
Please consider donating to and sharing this fundraiser to support the opening of the Salt Lake Liberation Center. The history of social movements has shown us that where there is oppression, there is resistance — but we only get what we’re organized to take!
