We are still locked in a legal battle with my ex-husband—a man who is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence for attempting to kill me to avoid paying child support. While he is behind bars for his crimes, he continues to abuse and control us through the legal system.

Even from prison, he has weaponized the courts to keep me tied to him. He files motions, drags us into court, and forces me to spend thousands on legal defense just to protect my children and maintain our safety. His tactics are manipulative and cruel, and they are draining us emotionally, mentally, and financially.

I’ve exhausted our savings, liquidated my 401k, and have now accrued over $5,000 in credit card debt just trying to keep up. I need a lawyer based in Chicago, as I no longer live in Illinois and do not qualify for legal aid in DuPage County. My parental termination rights case here in Arizona (Pima County) was closed, and I cannot refile until all of his cases involving our children are closed in Illinois.

We are living in a nightmare that we just want to end.

I’m doing everything I can to protect my children, but I can’t do it alone anymore. I need help covering legal costs to finally break free from this ongoing abuse.
