In Loving Memory of Duane Philibert

My dad, Duane Philibert, was only 50 years old when he passed away after a courageous battle with glioblastoma multiforme, an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer. He was diagnosed in December 2024, and from that moment, he faced this disease with incredible strength, resilience, and determination. In April 2025, he went into remission, giving our family hope. Just two months later, in June, the tumors returned. Despite the return of his illness, he made the most of every day, enjoying the summer of 2025 and celebrating his 50th birthday doing what loves.

Duane was not defined by his illness. He was a loving father, a devoted family man, and a friend to many. His passions were as vibrant as his personality. He had a deep love for working on BMW cars. From hours spent on the streets of Queens New York building cars from scratch, fixing engines, tinkering with projects, and helping friends with their vehicles brought him genuine joy. Beyond cars, he was a lifelong learner and a lover of knowledge and history. He was witty, sometimes controversial, but always thoughtful, and he had a unique way of leaving an impression on everyone he met. His kindness, generosity, and sense of humor made our lives brighter and his absence has left a hole in all our hearts.

Now, our family is faced with the heartbreaking reality of saying goodbye and giving him the burial he deserves. The costs of funeral and burial services are more than we can manage on our own, and we are reaching out to our community for help during this incredibly difficult time. We are under a tight timeline, as we hope to lay him to rest this Thursday, and any support you can provide will go directly toward covering these expenses and honoring his memory in a way that reflects the life he lived.
