For decades, our parents have dedicated their lives to helping others.
Our dad served as a volunteer firefighter, answering calls whenever his community needed him. Even after stepping away from the fire service, he continued serving others through volunteer work with the Red Cross, helping families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Our mom has spent countless hours bringing comfort and hope to others as a volunteer at Renown Hospital. Alongside Chester, her certified therapy dog, she visits patients, families, and staff, sharing smiles, companionship, and support when it is needed most.
They have always been the people who show up for others.
Recently, a devastating flood and mudslide swept through their property and into their home. In a matter of minutes, years of memories, belongings, furniture, and parts of the home they worked so hard to build were buried under mud and debris. The home they have loved and cared for for the past 13 years was left devastated.
The damage extends far beyond what can be seen on the surface. Floors, walls, furniture, personal belongings, and parts of the property have been severely impacted. The cleanup and restoration process is overwhelming, physically exhausting, and financially daunting. Unfortunately, they have learned that their insurance will not cover any of the damage, leaving them to face the enormous cost of recovery on their own.
Anyone who knows my parents knows they are not people who ask for help. They are usually the first to offer it.
We are creating this fundraiser to help cover cleanup costs, home repairs, replacement of damaged belongings, and the many unexpected expenses that come with recovering from a disaster of this magnitude.
Every donation, no matter the amount, will help ease the burden and allow them to move forward.
