Help towards buying a Rugby Wheelchair

As a kid I was unable to take any real part in team sports due to a birth deformity in my leg, ankle and foot.

Following years of crippling pain and collapse of my bone structure in the foot I elected to become a Below Knee Amputee in Aug 2020 to give me a chance to get back the kind of life I never really had.

Since then I've taken up Adaptive sports like Handcycling - doing over 260miles in a week for charity and riding most weeks. BUT Now I've found the sport of Wheelchair Rugby with the Taunton Gladiators and I LOVE IT.

But like most things adaptive sports wise the ideal is to have custom fit kit (for safety as well as comfort). But that's NOT cheap..

So... rather than "begging for brass"....I've decided a challenge is in order to prove I deserve it.....to raise funds towards the cost of Buying a Rugby Chair.

The Challenge:

I will be WHEELING the distance of a Marathon (26 . 2 miles) in my Standard Wheelchair on SATURDAY 24TH JUNE 2023, around Weymouth Dorset.....and I'm hoping to do it in UNDER 4 Hrs.

I'll be tracking the event with pics and on a Garmin (and welcome folks to join me for some or all of the distance if they wish).

A Rugby Chair is around £3 to £5K minimum but if I'm lucky enough to have Any money left over after buying the chair please be assured I'll be using what's left to go towards upgrading to an OffRoad Handbike - which will be ESSENTIAL in my NEXT Idiot Idea for a Challenge (stay tuned for that)

So in short...24th June '23.... I'll be doing a marathon...in a wheelchair.... hopefully in under 4hrs....so if you can spare ANYTHING (even just a cheer as I wheel past) it will be MASSIVELY appreciated
