Help tow truck driver, Joey, after attack

Hi, my name is Nayibe. My husband, Lance, and I own Liberty Towing in Tacoma, WA. One of our tow truck drivers, Joey, was physically attacked while on a job in the middle of the night on Friday, May 21st. He was dispatched a call for a vehicle that needed a tow outside of a bar. While beginning to load the vehicle onto his flatbed, three (seemingly drunk) men came out of the bar and began harassing the owner of the vehicle for needing his car towed. They were being very aggressive and Joey, being the kind of person he is (an awesome human being who won't stand silent when others are being bullied or harassed), stood up for his customer. He told the men that they should go about their business and leave the man alone. The three men then turned on Joey. They beat him and took off. Our dispatcher called 911 and a few of our other drivers (it's a brotherhood) and Joey's wife showed up at the scene as well. Joey was kicked in the head and left with lots of bruises and a broken arm. We're very thankful that it wasn't worse, but this sort of thing just shouldn't happen, especially when you're just trying to do your job. Tow truck drivers already risk their lives every day while on the job (please remember to Slow Down, Move Over).

Without being able to work for a few weeks, his wife not currently working, and with 4 kids to support, finances will be super tight for their family for a while if we don't help him out.  One of our other drivers suggested starting a GoFundMe for Joey and his family (thanks, Steve K!).   I'm hoping this fundraiser will (at minimum) help their family pay their bills and groceries while he is out of work.

Joey is the kind of person who would seriously give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He is an extremely hard worker and loves his towing family and cares about doing a great job for his customers. He is selfless, kind, and always cracking jokes- just a really great guy! If you Google our business and see the reviews, we have a ton of great reviews praising Joey for going above and beyond.

Please help us help him feel supported and appreciated for being the kind of person who stands up for and protects others. Those guys were looking for a fight, and I know Joey would not let that happen to his customer.

We pay our employees every Tuesday. Tuesday, June 8th will be his first pay check for the pay period after the incident, so I would like to be able to have some money raised for him by then.
