Help Thomas and His Family Get a Car
Hi, my name is Mariana, and along with my friend Elvia, we’re reaching out with love and hope on behalf of a little boy in our community named Thomas.
If you live in the area, chances are you’ve seen Thomas — a sweet, resilient young boy in a wheelchair — being gently pushed around town by his mother, Lori, and his grandmother. Many of us have watched them navigate our streets with quiet strength and love, no matter the weather. Their dedication is inspiring, but it’s also a reminder of the daily challenges they face without reliable transportation.
Thomas, a student at Destin Middle School, was born with a rare condition called arthrogryposis multiplex congenita — a disorder that affects joint movement and muscle development. Because of this, Thomas requires frequent therapy and ongoing medical care, all of which involve travel to various appointments and specialists.
While he takes the school bus to and from Destin Middle, getting to his therapy sessions and medical appointments is a challenge for his family without a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. A car would ease the physical burden on Lori and his grandmother, and ensure Thomas can get the care he needs more comfortably and safely.
We’ve created this fundraiser to help them purchase a car that meets their unique needs. Every donation — big or small — brings us closer to making this possible. And even if you’re not able to give, sharing this with others helps more than you know.
Let’s come together as a community and show Thomas, Lori, and Grandma that we see them, we support them, and we’re here to help.
With gratitude,
Mariana & Elvia
