The Gunn Family Needs Your Help!

Help the Gunn family relocate to Salt Lake City, UT.
In July, 2016, I left a lucrative job to pursue an entrepreneurial opportunity. It was risky, and I knew that I’d likely make less money, but I felt good about the what I was doing and wanted to at least try.
I had planned so that my family had enough of a cushion to survive on while the business grew and began to turn a profit. Unfortunately, in November of 2016, it became clear that the opportunity wasn’t going to work out - at least from an income perspective. I cut ties with my partners, and was promised $12,000 in back pay for the work I’d put in to that point - with payout beginning in December, 2016. We have been anticipating promised funds, but we are now accepting the fact that we will likely never see any of that money. As of now, not a cent has materialized, and we are running on fumes. At this point, we will be unable to cover even the most basic of expenses for next month.
I have been aggressively pursuing employment opportunities since early December of 2016, but nothing has panned out so far - mostly because I’m interviewing with companies that are located in other markets, and they require an onsite interview. I’ve recently spent a significant amount of money traveling to interview for a position that unfortunately didn’t work out. That said, I’m undeterred from trying, and I continue to diligently apply for several positions each week.
Out of necessity, we’ve reached out to family in Salt Lake City, UT, and asked if we might stay with them while we get back on track and establish a life there. While this is a difficult decision for us, the silver lining is that we’ll have support, and that our two young children will be able to see their cherished grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins on a regular basis. They have graciously offered to help us by providing a place to stay, but they aren’t in a position to contribute any money for moving expenses.
So, here is my humble ask.
I need to raise $2600 to cover relocation expenses. This includes a couple of months of storage for our furniture (that we haven’t sold yet), truck or trailer rental, gasoline, food/lodging for the 2400 mile journey.
I’m planning this in the most frugal way possible, and I can assure you that absolutely nothing will go to waste.
I am also selling some of my original artwork through my Etsy shop. If you’d prefer to purchase some original artwork, I have a number of pieces that would love a new home.
As someone who has always been self sufficient, and proud of not only relying on myself, but also being financially able to help others in need, I am humbled and a bit saddened to have to ask for help from you in order to make this big move and keep a roof over our heads.
Anything you can do to help is appreciated more than you know, and I am so grateful for whatever funds that may be raised through this effort.
Thank you for reading our story.
