Help Tandy, the retired Guide Dog.

Tandy needs help to cover expensive veterinary costs for the removal of a cancerous tumor and a torn cruciate ligament in her knee!
Tandy was raised as a guide dog puppy first by myself and then finished out her raising with Tammy and her family. She graduated as a guide dog with a wonderful man named Charlie. They travelled together, even to Paris, and were a wonderful team. Unfortunately a few years into their partnership Charlie died. Tandy then went to live with a good friend of Charlie’s for multiple years. In October we found out that this person had died as well.
Tandy then came to live with Tammy and her family . Tammy is a school teacher and when she was raising Tandy as a puppy she had gone to school with her daily. After Tandy’s graduation as a Guide Dog Tammy has gone on to raise more guide dog puppies and then help to start other service dog raising opportunities in her school. So when Tandy returned Tammy was able to get permission for Tandy to come to school once again.
Unfortunately Tammy found out recently that Tandy had torn a cruciate ligament in one of her knees, and likely the other knee will tear soon as well. While at the vet they also found a small mast cell tumor (which is a cancerous type) on one of her legs.
Tandy is an active 10 year old Labrador Retriever who has been very much enjoying her life of retirement with Tammy and we are hoping to help make these surgeries possible with some help from Tandy’s friends!
I work at a vet clinic that does orthopedic surgeries. Because it is a general practice clinic instead of a specialist, knee surgeries are done for about half to two-thirds of the normal cost but the surgery is still $2200-$2300. The cancerous tumor costs just over $300 to be removed and sent for histopathology.
