I came to know Taghreed through her sister Asma, an educator at a special-needs school in Gaza whose mission I've long supported.

Who is this for?

Taghreed Al-Jeraisi is a single mother of two in her early 30s. Her daughter Naya is 7 and her son Khalil is 5. The children's father abandoned them before Khalil was born and Taghreed has supported her children by working in graphic design and relying on family.

Here is Taghreed's story in her own words:

"Each of us has a story to live, and I, like every person in Gaza, saw death, hunger, oppression, and disease over and over again.

I am Taghreed Al-Jeraisi from the Gaza Strip, a mother of two children, Khalil, who is 5 years old, and Naya, who turned 7 years old on March 3rd. It is sad that her birthday passed during this devastating war.

I have been displaced with my children from one area to another to escape bombing and genocide. There are no safe places here. Everywhere and everyone is exposed. We were subjected to quadcopter [armed drones] bombardment and an invasion by tanks that were located directly behind the wall of our house. Fearing for our lives, my children and I hid under the stairs in an area not exceeding half a meter for 10 hours for fear that the bullets would reach our bodies. We escaped with our lives but lost our home.

I am a mother and all I want is for my children to see the beauty of this life and for them to have their basic rights: clean water, safe living, healthy food, and safe housing, like other children in the world.

Here I am telling you part of my tragic story, especially since I was a woman working in graphic design before the war. Now, I lost my job due to the loss of my possessions, and the constant power and internet outages.

I ask you to help me leave here with my children and continue with them abroad in a good life "
