Valentina and Zoey are two dedicated local judokas from Kawasaki Rendokan Judo Academy in Hamilton, Ontario. They both began their judo journey in the summer of 2024 and quickly became kata partners.

What started as a training partnership soon grew into a strong and inspiring friendship.

In May 2025, they competed at the national level for the very first time and earned a gold medal in Ju-no-Kata, proudly becoming Canadian National Champions. This year, they are preparing to defend their title at the National Championships in Calgary this May.

Looking ahead, Valentina and Zoey have set their sights even higher, with the goal of qualifying for the Pan American Games in May 2026 in Ecuador. Their commitment to excellence is evident in the countless hours they dedicate to training at the dojo. To continue developing their skills and competing at the highest level, they regularly travel outside the province to attend advanced clinics and competitions.

Their hard work, determination, and teamwork truly reflect the spirit of judo.
