Help the Pardee Family with Ongoing Med. Expenses

If you have had the honor of meeting Kevin, you know these characteristics help define who he is: hardworking, kind, gentle, a dog lover, sports fan (Go Blue) and most of all- a family man! Kevin also goes by the names of Kev, Dad, Bapa, and HoneyBoy.

Many people have recently learned that Kevin underwent cardiac surgery on August 11. He preferred his healthcare to be kept private. As we are truly trying our hardest to respect his wishes, we are also trying to support the medical expenses that go hand in hand with his journey. A journey that has had many ups and downs, and a plethora of emotions. From the second his surgery began, complications arose. His 8 hour surgery turned into 12. His body was supposed to be recovering, but instead was hitting every speed bump on the road. It has now been 3 weeks & Kevin has remained in the CVICU persevering through trials and tribulations. During this time he has undergone 5 open heart surgeries, went into cardiac arrest, remains on a ventilator, had a total of 16 drips connected to his IV line at one time, continues CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy) to help his kidney function, and is still connected to an ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) machine to allow his heart and lungs to heal so they can adequately support his body. He has been in cardiogenic shock, septic shock, and hypovolemic shock. He remains on heavy duty sedation. He has been given well over 50 bags of blood and blood products just in the last few days. PLEASE GIVE BLOOD. Someone like Kev needs it and so may he. Docs have been able to wean his medications enough to assess his neurological status- certain days he responds with blinks and hand grasps! You may be wondering what makes his situation so unique? Well, Kevin was born with a congenital heart defect that he has managed to live with for 61 years thus far. In those 61 years he has also managed to be employed at the same company for 43 years (Woolf Aircraft where he hopes to retire from soon), married his high school sweetheart, Kathy, of 43 years, and raised three beautiful daughters who now have families of their own. Kevin enjoys spending his time around the fire with his pups and supporting Michigan football. The Pardee family is asking for your help with medical expenses, as we simply cannot do this alone.
