Meet Mama Mia, a rescue stray that recently had puppies.
Mia’s story is a sad but unfortunately not uncommon one. She was either thrown out on the street or born there, and clearly has not known any different for many years. Not being spayed, Mia became pregnant and eventually had her puppies in the safest place she could think of- in the middle of a large brush of branches and leaves- hidden away under an overhang of soil.
we had actually found and attempted to rescue Mia about a month ago, but on the first night she escaped and was nowhere to be found. Now, a month later, we saw a Facebook post of her in much worse shape- bloody and malnourished. We went and found her- and stayed for over two hours searching for her puppies, until eventually diving into the branches and thorns to find them.
now safe at home with her 9 pups, Mia is much happier- being fed regularly and having constant access to clean water.
When we saw the post of Mia, we assumed we would be rescuing one dog- not ten. As you can imagine, a litter as large as Mia’s required a lot of time, effort, and money. To promote transparency, We’ve listed some of the costs that funds will be going to. If you would like to support directly with materials, we also have an Amazon wishlist titled “Help Support Mama Mia!”
