I want to keep this as anonymous as possible to keep my niece safe and to try and prevent retaliation from involved parties. This situation is devastating and I wish no one to have to go through this ever but unfortunately these cases are very common.

I would like to start from the moment I was told about what had transpired. It was late at night and my mother called me in tears, I asked what had happened and she proceeded to tell me the most soul crushing news of how my baby niece (she is toddler age) had been sexually assaulted. I asked how this had happened and she told me that the father of my niece had moved in a roommate and their child who is also a minor and the child had been given access to do harmful acts to my niece. The fact the other child is the perpetrator is even more disheartening due to the fact that would mean they are also a victim to similar harm but their family is not the focus of this story and the family refused to help resolve the situation. Continuing on to the next few weeks we tried to keep my niece in the care of responsible family that would keep her safe but the father is abusive as well and saw this as a personal attack and claimed that withholding my niece from him was illegal. He also called my niece a liar when we told him that she explained how she was assaulted at his residence.

My niece is receiving therapy at the moment in order to help her heal but also gather the evidence needed to prove the incident did happen in his care. The father of my niece and the mother (my sister) have not been together for a year or more now but he is still focused on my sister and not his own daughter. He is a police officer and he has used his power to the fullest extent to prevent my niece from getting justice and to hurt my sister as much as he possibly can.

We are not wealthy people and tend to not want to ask for help but this unfortunately is extremely serious and we NEED help. We have contacted the DA (district attorney), the FBI of the state which they said they cannot help unless they are invited in (but how do you get invited in on a cover-up case?), we have reached out to domestic abuse centers but none of them can help unless there is an open case/investigation which did not occur due to the father's authority and power over the situation and trying to keep it hush hush and not make him look bad. I just want my niece to be safe and not have anyone hurt her again.
