Help Support Billy Joy in His Fight Against MND

Our beloved Billy Joy has recently been diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease (MND), a life-altering and progressive condition that affects the brain and nerves, gradually leading to weakness and loss of movement, speech, and eventually the ability to breathe independently.

As many of you know, Billy is a true local legend — a man who has travelled the length and breadth of Ireland, always with a kind word, a big heart, and a passion for sport and community. He is a lifelong GAA supporter, rarely missed a Waterford hurling match be it in attendance or on TV, and is a proud and dedicated Supporter of Kilmacthomas GAA Club where he devoted many years on the committee and involved with teams. Billy is best known for decorating the town in blue and white during championship season or sky blue and navy for his beloved club— putting up flags, bunting, and even painting cars in county/club colors to show his pride and support.

A talented painter and decorator by trade, Billy's work has left a mark in homes and businesses across Waterford and beyond. But more importantly, it’s his good humor, his helpfulness, and his unwavering community spirit that have made him a friend to so many.

Now, Billy needs your help.

MND has already begun to affect his strength and mobility, and in time, it will take his voice. To support Billy and his family during this difficult journey, we are raising funds to help cover the significant costs of:
