As a person who thrives on being optimistic and creating a bright future for myself, I truly believe Washington DC is the perfect environment for me.
I entered the foster care system in the the third grade and aged out when I was a sophomore in college. Through out my time in care I was placed in over nine placements ranging from traditional placement, kinship care, group homes, and independent living. As one can imagine the constant moving from home to home, family to family, and learning after independent living skills after care can be quiet hard. At this stage in my life I am ready for healing and a clean slate. I want a place I can call home, that's why I am asking for your help to so that I can stay in DC.
I will receive her Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Health Science from Indiana University, Bloomington this December. I founded and served as President of a support group for first generation and foster youth of Indiana University called Breaking the Cycle. I have held a host of titles such as Vice President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Tau Chapter, Education and Training Voucher Student Ambassador, and 2016 Homecoming Queen. I am dedicated to advocating for foster youth. I was sworn in as a Court Appointed Special Advocate by the Monroe County Courts and has volunteered with organizations such as Foster Club and Casey Family Programs in order to push policy that benefits the foster care community. I am currently serving on Capitol Hill. Leaving Indiana University, I received the Mueller Outstanding Senior Award for leaving the campus better than I found it. I am trying to leave the world better than I found it. Help me by investing in me. #MakeDCmyhome
