Help Sephonia Recover from a Heartless Scam

Hi,

My name is Sephonia. I’m a 62-year-old widow who was scammed by two people whom I trusted like family. My bank account was raided for $750.00 on 7/7/2025. They stole the money I had been saving up to buy my son a headstone with as well. I don’t know how I’m going to pay my mortgage as I am on a fixed income.

They destroyed my property and took some valuable comic books and baseball cards I had been saving for a rainy day to cash in. That rainy day was fast approaching given the economy.

They moved out without paying their rent. I have proof of everything I’m saying in case anyone needs it. The police just tell me it’s a civil matter and there’s nothing they can do. They used my bank account to scam money from someone else, and the bank took the money from me. Again, I was told it’s a civil matter. I’ve been in my home for 17 years and have never missed a payment. I’m hoping there’s someone out there who will hear my pleas and help me. This feels hurtful to me to ask strangers for help, but I don’t know what else to do. I can’t make the repairs of the damage these people caused. And my home will be taken if I don’t make the mortgage.

For 15 years I ran a non profit cafe that fed the community absolutely free healthy home cooked meals. I provided a free Community Christmas Dinner with gifts to boot for the kids in attendance. I ran a free thrift store. And I gave many, a roof over their heads. But the thanks I get for trusting people is destruction of my property, bank fraud and theft. How quickly we forget about those who helped you when you needed a helping hand. How quickly we forget the elderly such as myself that have contributed to many years of serving this community? 

Right now I’m at a loss for the callousness of humanity towards their fellow men and women. May God have mercy on our souls.
