Meet Brayden! Brayden is a fifth grader in my class this year and I am so lucky to be his teacher. Brayden is funny, perseverant, incredibly intelligent, and has an extremely kind heart. I could go on and on.
To give you a little context about our school...I am his teacher at a school in rural South Dakota. Our school is a BIE (Bureau of Indian Education) School that serves predominantly Oglala Lakota students. 100% of our students receive free lunch and breakfast.
Due to the fact that Brayden lives in a very rural area, he has limited access to summer programs and camps. Our Native Youth already fight many obstacles day in and day out, yet Brayden always shows up to school with an upbeat attitude. Because Brayden is so perseverant, yet experiences many disadvantaged services, I want to use my privilege to take him to a summer iD Tech Camp at the University of Pennsylvania. Attending this camp will allow Brayden the opportunity to not only display the skills he already has developed, but to learn new things so that he can be better equipped to handle middle school, as well as become a competitor in the education world that we exist in.
The cost of the campaign will cover Brayden's tuition for the camp and his flight to Pennsylvania. Brayden is attending the camp at UPenn because this camp is close to where I will be living, as well as for Brayden to experience a big city and all of the cultural experiences that come with it.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your contributions to helping my student become a future leader in both education and technology- something that he deserves and has every right to.
