Help Keep the Legacy of Genesee River Restaurant Alive!

Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,

For over 60 years, the Genesee River Restaurant & Reception Center has been a cherished landmark in Upstate New York—a place where family traditions are born, lifelong memories are made, and everyone feels like part of the family. From my grandfather to my uncle, and for the last 16 years, me, we've been privileged to host everything from intimate gatherings to grand celebrations. Next year, we celebrate an incredible milestone—our building will turn 100 years old!

Over the decades, we've had the honor of serving presidential families, celebrities, local news anchors, and countless community members. We’ve hosted everything from weddings and anniversaries to milestone birthdays and corporate events, and even a memorable episode of Wife Swap. We've served locals and international guests, and we've witnessed the loyalty of our incredible patrons. This place has become a cornerstone of Livingston County, and we couldn’t be prouder of the people we’ve served and the history we've made together.

However, like many small businesses, we’ve faced unprecedented challenges in recent years. The COVID-19 pandemic devastated our operations, leaving us unable to hold large gatherings or offer in-person dining. We lost out on a crucial RRF grant due to funding running out, and the months of shutdowns, cancelled events, and loss of income have taken a significant toll. We’ve had to adapt to a new model—take-out only during that period- and we are still facing financial hurdles that threaten the future of this beloved institution.

The competition is fierce now, with new event centers emerging and businesses starting fresh without the burden of past debt. And despite a return to “normal,” the mounting costs—over $20,000 per month for operational expenses, including mortgage, utilities, taxes, and payroll—are suffocating. Rising interest rates and inflation only add to the pressure, and it's becoming more and more difficult to keep up.

This is where we need your help.

As difficult as it is to ask, I’m reaching out to you today to help keep the Genesee River Restaurant alive.
