My name is Melissa, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my dog. Milo is not just my pet — he is my family, my best friend, and my constant companion.
A few days ago, Milo suffered a terrible accident after being bitten by another dog at Northeast Regional Park. Unfortunately everything happened so fast that I never found out which dog it was. What seemed like a bite at first turned into a very serious medical situation.
The bite caused a large and very serious wound. I rushed him to the emergency vet where he had to undergo surgery immediately. The doctors had to place many stitches and a drainage tube to help the wound heal.
Unfortunately, Milo’s recovery has been very difficult. The veterinarians have now told me that a large area of the tissue around the wound has become necrotic (dying). Because of this, he will need another surgery to remove the damaged tissue. The area is so large that the doctors explained he may even require a skin graft surgery to properly close the wound and help him heal.
Watching him go through this has been heartbreaking. Right now, he is in the hospital receiving treatment.
The emergency surgery, medications, bandage care, and upcoming procedures are becoming extremely expensive. Right now Milo’s veterinary bills have already exceeded $12k, and the costs continue to grow as he needs ongoing treatment.
I never imagined I would be in a position where I needed to ask for help, but Milo means the world to me and my family and I want to give him every possible chance to recover.

Mi nombre es Melissa y me acerco a ustedes con el corazón triste para pedir ayuda para mi perro. Milo no es solo mi mascota — es mi familia, mi mejor amigo y mi compañero constante.
Hace unos días, Milo sufrió un terrible accidente después de ser mordido por otro perro en Northeast Regional Park. Desafortunadamente, todo sucedió tan rápido que nunca pude saber cuál fue el perro. Lo que al principio parecía solo una mordida terminó convirtiéndose en una situación médica muy seria.
La mordida le causó una herida grande y muy grave. Lo llevé de inmediato al veterinario de emergencia, donde tuvo que someterse a una cirugía de urgencia. Los doctores tuvieron que colocar muchos puntos de sutura y un tubo de drenaje para ayudar a que la herida pudiera sanar.
Desafortunadamente, la recuperación de Milo ha sido muy difícil. Los veterinarios ahora me han dicho que una gran parte del tejido alrededor de la herida se ha vuelto necrótico (está muriendo). Debido a esto, necesitará otra cirugía para remover el tejido dañado. El área afectada es tan grande que los doctores me explicaron que incluso podría necesitar una cirugía de injerto de piel para poder cerrar la herida correctamente y ayudarlo a sanar.
Verlo pasar por todo esto ha sido muy difícil. En Estos Momentos se encuentra hospitalizado.
La cirugía de emergencia, los medicamentos, el cuidado de los vendajes y los próximos procedimientos se están volviendo extremadamente costosos. En este momento, las facturas veterinarias de Milo ya han superado los $12k y los costos continúan aumentando a medida que necesita tratamiento continuo. Nunca imaginé que estaría en una situación en la que tendría que pedir ayuda, pero Milo significa el mundo para mí y para mi familia, y quiero darle todas las oportunidades posibles para recuperarse.
