Harlem is home to so many of us. We love our neighbors and fight every day for our community. But raising children here especially during harsh winter months is hard when there are so few safe, warm indoor spaces for them to play and grow.
That’s why we created Harlem Studio Playground a welcoming, indoor art and play space for families. Many of you waited an entire year for us to open our doors, and we are deeply grateful for your patience and support.
What many don’t know is how hard that year was. We put every resource we had into opening our space, trusting a contractor who resulted to be the landlord’s building administrator. He took our money and failed to deliver the work. After months of delays and broken promises, we were left with debt, loans, and mounting rent yet we pushed through and finally opened a year late.
That delay set us far behind financially. Despite our best efforts, we are struggling to catch up on rent and debt, and our landlord has shown no compassion. More over the roof of the building is in very rough shape that is cause a constant leak damaging our play structure, flooring and supplies. Still, we believe this space is not just our dream it’s something our community truly needs.
If Harlem Studio Playground has touched your family in any way through open play, memberships, birthday parties, or simple encouragement please consider supporting us. Share this link to others. Your help can keep our doors open and this dream alive.
Thank you for standing with us.
