Hello friends and family,
I am writing here on behalf of my sister Maira and our family for our sweet Rocky, who truly needs ALL of your help!
Rocky is the sweetest, warmest, and most loving dog our family has been so blessed to play with and love these past 12 years.
Rocky, our "bean boy," lives such a happy life filled with playdates at the park with his fur-pals and family. From doggy-cafe days to playing with his favorite plushies at home to wanting to sleep in his favorite corner of the bed with his mom (Maira), Rocky just loves to love, and that is what we have always loved the most about him.
So while it breaks our hearts to write this, as a result of the continuous growth of his mass tumor that is currently undergoing a biopsy test, the excessive growth has caused tearing in his skin and has thus created an open wound vulnerable to an infection. After meeting with two veterinarians, Maira was advised to meet with a specialist to determine whether the lump could be safely removed or what the best options were going to be for Rocky moving forward. It was determined by the specialist, given the severity of the location/size and potential infection, as well as the risk of removing the lump that could cause Rocky to bleed out, that the safest option for Rocky would be to amputate his front-left leg! :(
While you can imagine how difficult and emotional this decision has been, we DO NOT want to see our sweet Rocky in any pain, discomfort, nor risk his life by not removing what could potentially harm his life in the end.
We kindly ask for your love and support in Rocky's journey! His donations will go towards his estimated medical costs such as two biopsy tests, chemistry screening, radiographs, X-Rays, antibiotics, sedation, anesthesia, operating fee of soft tissue, amputation of his limb and overnight hospital stay. We were provided an estimation in the amount of $10,678 which does not include potential additional surgical and examination fees as well as additional medical fees for follow-up appointments, medication and supportive essentials needed at home for him to have the best recovery so that he may adjust to distributing his weight and walking on three legs — dogs have been known to live a very healthy and happy life post-amputation and we want to provide Rocky the BEST life so that he can continue to live in his Senior years in comfort.
Whether it is sharing his story and/or making any form of contribution you are able to make, we are and will forever be grateful and thank you all for helping Rocky in his journey!
With love,
Rocky's family <3
