My world has been turned upside down by a dire Lung Cancer diagnosis. The prognosis is that this cancer is not curabe. It is small cell extensive. With Chemotherapy starting this week we may be able to slow the beast into remission. Of course there are no guarantees....and of course anything is possible. Miracles do happen. I believe that
All of this has happened so fast. I had 2 weeks of a minor dull headache in late September that I decided I needed to get checked out when it started to affect my balance. I am a yoga teacher. It didn't make sense that I was feeling this way. Within one day of checking into the Cowichan District Hospitla ( 2 weeks ago now) I was rushed to VGH and had brain surgery to remove a lung cancer tumor in my left cerebellum. It seems that the amazing neurosurgeon, Dr Ian Fleetwood, was able to get the whole tumor, but it came from my lungs.
My children and grandchildren live in Halifax, NS and I am on Vancouver Island. Seems like half a world away. It has been 2 years since I last saw my grandkids due to COVID. I just can't imagine taking the chance that I may not get to hold them all again.
My daughter's birthday, my birthday and the anniversary of my marriage to Alan Seal 4 hears ago all fall alongside Christmas. I have never had my immediately family in my home for Christmas and would be over the moon to be able to see to see them all at that time of year. December can be a really tough month for me. I tend toward depression at that time of year and I'm sure that will not bode well for my healing. Having this to look forward to would make such a difference.
I would love to have my kids and grandkids come to see me this year, but super expensive airfare, accommodation and food make it near to impossible without us incuuring unmanageable debt.
Please help me to bring my grandkids to Vancouver Island. My spirits would absolutely soar if we can make this happen.
