About a year ago, I started experincing more pain than usual. At the time, the doctor I was seeing wrote it off as nothing and sent me on my way.
August 25th, 2017 a trip to the ER and the follow up with my new doctor the next day resulted in the booking of different exploratory imaging.
The results of that imaging revealed a mass that may or may not be cancerous.
Today, October 3rd, 2017, I met with the specialist and we elected to, rather than just have a biopsy, simply remove the mass in entirity and if it's begnin, great and if not, my surgeon's confident she will have gotten the whole thing in one go based on the imaging that's been done already.
The problem is that after paying for the ER bill and subsequent doctor's visits, I'm tapped out on savings. My insurance isn't the greatest, but at least the bill will only need to cover the remainder of my deductible: approximately $3000 though that number also includes the fees and percentage that GoFundMe will take.
The surgery's scheduled for December 19th, 2017 and I'm honestly terrified on all sorts of levels. It's a relatively simple outpatient procedure. I have someone willing and able to take me to and from the surgery center, and only with the benefit of working from home shouldn't be required to take time off of work.
Everything from this campaign will be going to help cover the cost of the surgery that my insurance won't. Any little bit you can give will help immensely.
