Help Rebuild the Home of Lincoln James — Beloved Educator and Community Pillar

On October 28, 2025, Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica, leaving behind widespread devastation — destroying homes, displacing families, and uprooting lives. Among those most deeply affected were Lincoln and Jean James, two respected and beloved educators in western Jamaica, whose lifelong service has shaped generations of Jamaicans.

Their family home suffered catastrophic structural damage, with the foundation completely eroded by landslides and torrential water runoff. Sadly, the land itself has been declared unsafe and unsuitable for rebuilding, leaving the James family permanently displaced.

Who They Are

Lincoln James is not just an educator — he is a mentor, a father figure, and a beacon of integrity and service. During his many years as Principal of Howard Cooke Primary School, he led literacy programs, community outreach efforts, and youth development initiatives that continue to bear fruit today. Even in retirement, Mr. James remains deeply involved in his community, mentoring young educators and offering guidance to students who still seek his wisdom.

Jean James began her teaching journey at just 16 years old, dedicating her entire life to nurturing the next generation. Today, she serves as the Principal of St. James Preparatory School, where her compassion, leadership, and unwavering dedication have touched countless lives. As she winds down her career, all we can say is "Well Done".

Lincoln and Jean have each devoted over 50 years of their lives to educating, uplifting, and empowering others — building not just students, but strong communities. Both are devout Christians with leadership roles in their respective churches.
