Help a young family save their home!

I am fundraising for my sister and her family after they have been scammed by a builder who ran off with their money and left behind a half finished shoddy extension which damaged the existing house. They now have to knock and rebuild the majority of the structure both old and new.

They started the building process back in September 2021. Initially things seemed promising and after designing the extension and seeking planning permission they finally broke ground in March 2022. Unfortunately at this time Aisling’s brother tragically passed away at the age of 29 and shortly after she lost her first baby. The families attention was understandably drawn away from the build. This allowed the builder to take full advantage. Over the course of the following year he managed to con the family out of over 150,000. The work he did do is shoddy and dangerous as per engineers report.

Two and a half years later they have been left with a condemned building, that has no electricity, no gas, no wall, half a roof, cracks everywhere and is completely uninhabitable. It is a dangerous structure and because of the prolonged exposure the old existing house is also severely damaged.

In order to have a habitable home once again, parts of the existing house will need to be repaired and the extension completely knocked. This is obviously a huge cost (in the region of 270,000) that they simply cannot fund after already stretching their finances to the limit with the initial build. They’ve exhausted all loan and mortgage options and there is no where they can get any help from.

Aisling is on maternity leave with her baby boy and all of them including their two dogs are currently living in the shed on the property which is not adequate for them or their young baby. I am asking for any help you can spare to try and rebuild their home.
