Help us save Toby's life

Hi, my name is Danielle and I'm fundraising for my family's dog, Toby's, cancer diagnosis and treatment.

On Tuesday, April 30, we took Toby to the vet because he was suddenly limping. After evaluation and some diagnostics, the next day we learned he has a large mast cell malignant tumor covering his leg. We were advised to consult with an oncologist to learn more about his cancer's grading/staging and prognosis as soon as possible. We spent most of our day in the ER with Toby yesterday and, unfortunately, were unable to afford the funds required for the range of tests needed at the moment so we left with just some painkillers and steroids to aid in his comfort. Though we typically don't like to ask for this sort of help, we're leaning toward the kindness of our friends, family, and community in hopes of raising the funds necessary for Toby's full/proper diagnosis and possible treatment.

We adopted Toby on November 20, 2020 from a shelter that took in street dogs from Tijuana. Since then, he has brought nothing but joy and love into our house. When we first adopted him, he was very shy and anxious, and you could tell he had been through his fair share of struggles. His coat looked dull and scraggly, he was very skinny, and he had fresh stitches from his right eye being removed. You can see this in the third picture, which is Toby the day after we got him. Being able to see Toby thrive, get healthier, and truly come into his playful and silly personality since we adopted him has been an experience we wouldn't give up for the world. He has brightened our days and helped us all get through tough times. Toby has warmed the hearts of everyone around him. We've come to realize that Toby has taught each one of us something very special and unique about ourselves. Losing him right now is unimaginable to us. When I was involved in a major car accident that put my life on hold for two years, being able to take care of Toby brought meaning into my life. I realized that I needed Toby just as much as he needed me. So I want to give back as much as I can to him.
