Hi, my name is Brandon Clig. My brother Justin and our families are organizing this fundraiser for our extraordinary mother, Patty Clig. Several months ago, our mom felt a small lump, about the size of a pencil eraser, in her breast. Fortunately, it was somewhat painful to the touch, which is really what drove her to go to her primary care physician to have it examined. On December 7th, 2022, we received the news from her primary care physician that she indeed had cancer. After meeting with her oncologist on Dember 12th, it was confirmed the results of the biopsy were triple-negative breast cancer. Our family found out this form of breast cancer is one of the more aggressive and rare forms and only accounts for roughly 10% of breast cancers in the world. Triple-Negative cancer tends to grow and spread more quickly than other types of cancer, which is why she was required to have a lumpectomy in January. The surgery went smoothly, but she was still going to require treatment, including powerful chemotherapy and radiation. She received her first of 16 chemo treatments on February 1st. The first two treatments went fairly well, but with each new round come more side effects. The loss of energy, limited appetite, body aches, nausea, dizziness, and blood pressure issues have now become part of her daily routine.
If you are fortunate enough to know our mom, Patty, you know she is the rock that keeps our family together. She is the most loving mom (in-law), wife, grandmother, sister (in-law), aunt, and friend anyone could ever have. She always offers her time and energy to help others and care for her loved ones. Our mom has given so much of herself to so many others, we hope our friends and family can help us to take care of her.
Our hope for this fundraiser is to relieve some of the financial stress starting to arise with our mom's cancer journey. Even though she is fighting cancer every day, her treatments have become more aggressive and have taken a toll on her ability to work her full-time schedule for her employer who she has been with for 30+ years. My brother and I would like our mom to have peace of mind to focus on healing and spending time with her loved ones rather than having the burden of covering her and our dad's expenses.
We know our mom is a true warrior and will continue to kick cancer's butt. Please continue to keep her in your prayers. We are extremely grateful for your kindness and generosity.
