Hi, my name is Hayley (Amy’s sister) and I’m fundraising for my beautiful niece Scarlett.

On Christmas Eve, Amy and Trent’s world was turned upside down when their nine month old daughter, Scarlett, was admitted to Wyong Hospital. What they thought would be a short hospital stay quickly became something far more serious as they were transferred to Westmead Children’s Hospital that night.

Doctors discovered a 7cm tumour on Scarlett’s liver, which was later diagnosed as Hepatoblastoma, a rare childhood liver cancer. During testing, Scarlett suffered a significant bleed during a biopsy and required a blood transfusion. Following the biopsy, Scarlett became quite unwell as her immune system reacted to the tumour, and her parents were told she would not begin to improve until treatment started.

Scarlett then underwent major surgery where half of her liver was removed. Following the liver resection, Amy and Trent were initially told the surgery was a success, with clear margins, and that chemotherapy wouldn’t be needed. They were preparing to finally take Scarlett home. Heartbreakingly, the night before discharge, they were informed that final pathology results showed concerning cellular changes, meaning Scarlett will now need chemotherapy.

Since December 24th, Amy and Trent have not left Scarlett’s side at Westmead Children’s Hospital. Their focus has been entirely on their baby girl, navigating overwhelming medical decisions, long hospital days and sleepless nights, all while facing the emotional and financial strain that comes with it.

This GoFundMe has been set up to help ease some of that burden, covering travel, food, time away from work, and ongoing expenses as Scarlett begins her next phase of treatment (Chemotherapy).
