Hello I'm Natalie & 39
Living in the hilly countryside of west Yorkshire
I want to thank you for taking the time to read my story and support if you kindly choose to
I have been diagnosed with moderate to severe ME. Myalgic Encephalitis.
I ended up in intensive care in 2016 with a virus that resulted in me struggling to breathe. Years of tests, seeking support and high levels of physical, emotional and mental stress followed.
I am currently waiting to see a neurologist and have MRI scans on the NHS . As it is believed I may suffer with inflammation of the spine and brain .
This is a chronic untreatable illness that affects your entire body. A neurological issue , that can see you rapidly deteriorate. Which sadly I have over the past few years, trying to struggle alone.
It effects my energy levels dramatically. Some days I can not physically get out of bed. I experience widespread muscle and joint pain 24/7. I have extreme muscle weakness and balance issues and regularly fall unaided.
My cognitive ability is also highly effected . With speech issues, memory loss and sensory disturbance
It is a very cruel, misunderstood illness. Which is being investigated and trying to be understood
I am also hyper mobile. My joints reguarly dislocate & I suffer sprains easily . The connective tissue of my muscles, sadly can not hold my joints in place. This is extremely painful and can happen anytime.
I have little quality of life now . I am often housebound on my own for days or weeks. I can only get out if i have someone who is able to support me . This means pushing a standard wheelchair or assisting physically. Sadly i don't have that support available, with no family locally and ongoing fights to get assistance on the NHS
Mentally I have also suffered. As life has become so small and isolating. Coping with loneliness, high levels of pain and distress.
I know getting out on my own will give me freedom, confidence and improve my health physically and mentally.
I have become anxious trying to go out alone, being disabled in the past . Having fallen & becoming stuck needing assistance
This wheelchair is expensive but could be a real lifeline to me daily. This is a off road , motor assisted wheelchair . When i have no energy a e powered chair gives me freedom & security.
I am fundraising as financially I could never manage this alone .
I appreciate every single person, who contributes, shares and supports me
Thank-you for helping me to get my life back
