UPDATE 27.05 2026
As many of you are aware, we had some hope after another hospital reviewed Ethan’s case. They requested a CT scan and a contrast scan to assess his current condition. Sadly, after reviewing the results, they informed us they were not prepared to take Ethan on as a patient because they could not offer any different treatment to what he is already receiving.

The doctors at his current hospital have told us Ethan’s brain injuries are extremely severe, and that the only possible outcome would likely be Ethan being completely bedridden and only able to communicate with his eyes.

After many heartbreaking family discussions, we made the devastating decision to agree to stop all active treatment and move Ethan onto palliative care because we were told there would be no quality of life for him, and that he would not be able to breathe on his own. We signed the paperwork for treatment to be withdrawn.

However, in what feels like a miracle, Ethan is still breathing and his vital stats remain quite stable.

We are now desperately trying to explore every possible option to get him home to the UK. We have started getting medical repatriation quotes, but the costs are extremely high — currently coming back at around £150,000 or more.

We are continuing to reach out to companies, charities, organisations, and anyone who may be able to help in any way possible.

We will not give up fighting for our grandson’s life.

Thank you to everybody for the love, prayers, donations, and support you continue to show our family. It truly means everything to us.

UPDATE 24.05.2026
Update Ethan Lacey ❤️

Well there’s been some big positives. As I said, I travelled into Bangkok city today and went from hospital to hospital. The last one has finally given us some hope. They have looked through Ethan’s medical records and are willing to take him on.

Now we just need the doctor at his current hospital to sign him over, but they won’t be there until the morning, so we will be there early waiting to speak with them. This hospital has a neurospecialist team, which is exactly what Ethan needs right now.

We are completely overwhelmed by all the donations, messages, advice, and offers of help from friends, family, and even people we have never met. The whole UK seems to be getting behind Ethan and we are so grateful for every single person supporting him.

We still have the biggest fight of our lives ahead of us — getting Ethan strong enough to come back home to the UK and back to his daughter. Please keep praying, sharing, and supporting him. ❤️

UPDATE 23.05.2026
Update

After speaking to a doctor this morning, we’ve now learned there has been a lot of wrong information and miscommunication. For the first time since we’ve been here, we were finally able to properly sit down with a doctor, and we have been told there is still a very small chance Ethan could make some kind of recovery.

Seeing him lying there in so much pain and discomfort is absolutely heartbreaking, scary, and disturbing to witness.

We also learned that it is illegal in Thailand to turn off his machine, so now we are fighting to try and get him the best care possible.

The hospital he is currently in does not even have a neurosurgeon team. We are desperately trying to move him somewhere more suitable, but with the language barrier and limited funds it is proving almost impossible.

Tomorrow I am planning to travel 3–4 hours into Bangkok to personally take his medical records to hospitals and plead for their help.

Thank you to everyone for all the support, messages, prayers, and voice notes. Please continue to keep Ethan in your thoughts and prayers while we keep fighting for him.

UPDATE ON ETHAN - 22.05.2026
Ethan Lacey update ❤️

We have had to make the hardest decision of our lives. After speaking to multiple doctors and getting second opinions, the only option left for Ethan would mean lying there for weeks with a very small chance of survival, and if he did survive he would be bedridden, unable to talk, and without any quality of life.

We know Ethan would not want that for himself.

Thank you all for the love, support, prayers, and messages during this heartbreaking time. ❤️
UPDATE!
Spoken to mom and dad an hour ago, Ethan has a 30% chance of survival if kept on life support for 2 weeks I am going to attach his medical report on the injury, they are saying it’s going to cost us £800-£1000 a day to keep him in that hospital, we really need help and support from everyone that can.

Hi, my name is Anthea and I’m the grandmother of Ethan Lacey he is 20 years old!

My grandson Ethan travelled to Thailand to visit his cousin and tour the country. He had been in regular contact with my son and daughter-in-law up until Friday 15th May.

We have been told he may have been seen between 2am–3am at Tunnel nightclub in Pattaya, although this has not yet been confirmed.

My son and daughter-in-law have officially reported Ethan missing. We have tried contacting several places and numbers for help, but sadly we are still waiting for responses.

As you can imagine, we are going out of our minds with worry. Every minute and every hour that passes feels precious.

My son’s next step is to fly out to Thailand himself and begin searching for Ethan in person. I’m asking if anybody could please help by donating anything they can to support the cost of getting him there and helping with the search.

Please also share this post as widely as possible in the hope that someone may have seen Ethan or has information that could help.

UPDATE

We located Ethan at 5:00am on the 19th May British time, via a girl he is seeing in Thailand, he is ICU Article of accident, unfortunately his travel insurance has ran out, it would be greatly appreciated if people can help with donations to get him home where he belongs, myself, his mother and father are currently on the way over. Any help will be appreciated, updates will follow as soon as we arrive.

Thank you so much for your support.
