Help My Family Rebuild Our Home in Hanover, Jamaica After Hurricane Melissa

My name is Ajeya Majesty Montaque, and I am from Toronto, Canada.

I am fundraising for my family in Donaldva District, Hanover, Jamaica, who lost almost everything after Hurricane Melissa struck on October 28, 2025.

Our family home, a three-bedroom wooden house built with love and hard work by my mom and stepdad was severely damaged by the storm. The roof is completely gone, two of the three bedrooms were torn apart, and the kitchen and living area have been destroyed. At this moment, only one small bedroom and a bathroom remain standing.

Because the home was made of wood, it could not withstand the hurricane’s force, and it crumbled much more easily than we ever imagined. My mom, stepdad, brother, and stepsister are currently staying in a shelter while trying to protect what little is left from further damage.

How the Funds Will Be Used:

All funds raised will go directly toward rebuilding the home and supporting my family’s essential needs during this difficult time. The funds will be allocated to:

• Rebuilding materials such as lumber, roofing, cement, windows, doors, and paint

• Labour costs for local builders and electricians

• Temporary housing support while the home is under repair

• Replacement of essential items such as beds, kitchen supplies, and school materials for my siblings

• Transportation of materials to the rural Donaldva District area

Because GoFundMe does not support withdrawals to Jamaica, I will personally withdraw the funds in Canada and transfer them directly to my family to ensure every dollar is used for rebuilding and restoring their home.
