Help Mother of 5 Beat Stage 3 Cancer
Donativo protegido
On August 18th 2020, we received the devastating news that our sister, Gina Fecko, was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer. Because she is only 44 years old, her doctors have recommended that she receive an aggressive combination of chemotherapy and radiation, in the hopes of shrinking her tumor, followed by 2 surgeries. These treatments are expected to last up to a year or more.
While we are hopeful that this plan of care will cure Gina, we know the emotional and financial toll this will take on her and her family. Gina will be traveling an hour and a half each way to Cleveland Clinic 5 days a week for treatments. While undergoing radiation and chemotherapy, Gina will be forced to take an extended leave from her job at an imaging company. Sadly, her husband lost his job as a football coach just 3 weeks before her diagnosis, losing a large portion of their income.
The treatments will likely be very painful and leave her feeling very weak and sick. With five young children at home, we know that the loss of income, along with medical bills/insurance limits, and transportation costs have left them with many sleepless nights.
We are expecting the ongoing costs of medications, constant scans, specialist co-pays and bloodwork to be tremendous.
Expenses for CT scans, MRIs and biopsies are already starting to add up and we expect costs to continue to increase.
That is why we need your help! Gina is scheduled to begin her treatments September 21st. We are asking for help in easing this family’s financial burden so that they can concentrate on making Gina cancer free. She has a long road ahead of her but if we can just ease the financial strife that this horrible diagnosis has caused, we are confident that Gina will beat this!
