Hello, my name is Ben Pomykala and I am creating this GoFundMe to directly assist our two Jamaican workers, Morris and Jermaine Campbell, with direct financial assistance because of Hurricane Melissa.

Hurricane Melissa has devastated Jamaica, and has directly affected the workers on our farm.

Pomykala Farm is a small family farm in Grand Isle, Vermont. We grow vegetables, fruits, flowers and herbs for local restaurants, caterers, co-ops and farmers markets.

Morris and Jermaine Campbell are father and son who have been traveling to Vermont from Jamaica to help with our seasonal harvest for many years. In a very real way, their presence on the farm allows up to continue to operate and function as a viable business in the local food ecosystem.

As they prepare to return home this November, they are facing destruction of their homes. They were able to make contact with family in Jamaica on Thursday the 30th of October, and learned that their houses in Saint Catherine Parish have badly damaged roofs, flooded interior, and destroyed windows. Thankfully all their family members are safe, including Jermaine's 5 year old daughter.

We are asking for your help so Morris and Jermaine can rebuild their lives. Again, our farm depends on the fact that these two amazing, hardworking men come all the way to Vermont to help us with the harvest each season.
