Morgan Landry, at only 20 years old, was diagnosed with an aggressive eye cancer, Malignant Melanoma of the Choroid. Despite pursuing an alternative, the treatment was unsuccessful, and the tumor has unfortunately grown.

The tumor’s position is extremely dangerous: it appears to be encircling the optic nerve around 270 degrees. This proximity to the nerve makes immediate and highly specialized treatment the only option to save her eye.

Morgan was recently seen by the country’s leading eye cancer specialist, who strongly recommends that Morgan undergo Plaque Brachytherapy, a highly advanced procedure designed to fight the cancer while preserving her body from radiation.

Morgan is determined in pursuing this life-saving treatment. While this treatment is the absolute best hope for her, the slotted plaque brachytherapy is deemed "experimental" by many insurance providers and our insurance will not cover the cost of the surgery.

The hospital and plaque services alone are estimated to cost $30,000 to $40,000, and this figure does not include the specialized surgical fees, nor the extensive costs associated with receiving care in New York City. We are setting an urgent goal of $65,000.

Since the plaque service is not yet available at East Jefferson General Hospital (EJGH), Morgan must travel to The New York Eye Cancer Center to receive this critical intervention. The specialist there will work closely with our local team of doctors to ensure the best care possible for Morgan.

Following her treatment in New York, Morgan will return home to Louisiana, where her doctors will continue to monitor her condition at the EJGH ocular oncology clinic every 8 weeks indefinitely. This is a battle for life, and every day counts.
