Help MJ with Hospital Bills

Hi, my name is Andrea. I am fundraising for my husband. He unexpectedly was hospitalized on March 11th, 2023. What seemed to be a routine case of Pneumonia was then confirmed to be Tuberculosis (TB). Who knew there is TB in the U.S.? He started the TB treatment on March 21st. On April 5th, after 4 very long weeks and 20 lbs of muscle loss, he was cleared to go home on supplemental oxygen and to continue the lengthy TB treatment. We were so happy to finally be able to get him back home after almost 1 month in acute care. Unfortunately, during his 3wks back home his condition progressively deteriorated. On April 26th, after spiking a fever of 105 degrees and a heart rate that of a person running a marathon, I had to call 911 to get him to the hospital...again, where he remains. The doctors are still trying to determine whether there is another infection along with the TB. We don't have any answers yet. (05/03/23: Update - 2nd bacteria confirmed but not identified yet).

We are fortunate to have some health insurance coverage (HMO with huge deductible) but the expenses are piling up quickly without his income to cover them. He has been out of work for 1-1/2 months and does not have any disability insurance. This is putting a huge financial strain on the family. I am now the sole provider and caretaker for our son. I have had to cut back my hours at work by half to be able to drop off and pick up our son from school. Grateful to have family trying to help with this.

Once he is able to come home he will need to continue on oxygen and continue the 6-9 months of treatment it requires to beat Tuberculosis. He will not be able to return to work in construction until he regains his strength and stamina. He can currently only remain standing for about 10 minutes at a time with oxygen.

We would be very grateful for any assistance to help us cover his medical expenses as well as his monthly expenses (health insurance, etc). Any contributions are gratefully accepted.
