My nephew Mihailo was born on February 24, 2014 — a healthy, happy baby who met all his milestones, crawling, walking, and filling every room with joy.

On New Year’s Eve 2016, everything changed. Mihailo suffered his first seizure and nearly lost his life. Soon after, his legs became stiff, and he began walking on his tiptoes. Genetic testing revealed a rare condition called Sjögren-Larsson Syndrome, which causes muscle stiffness and loss of mobility.

Despite years of treatment, therapy, and incredible courage, Mihailo eventually lost the ability to walk. On September 17, 2025, he underwent a major six-hour surgery to reposition his bones and lengthen his muscles — his best chance to walk again.

Now begins a long journey of recovery and therapy. His loving mom, a single mother of three boys, is providing full-time care and cannot work during this critical time. She needs help not only with a special mobility vehicle for Mihailo’s wheelchair and therapy visits, but also with monthly bills, medical expenses, and daily care needs that have become overwhelming.
