My Father, Mágico (Roger Rengifo), has always been a good son, a good father, a good friend, and a very helpful and generous person, he was diagnosed with COVID-19 when he was at his mother's house taking care of her, on the 26th of March, along with his brother and mother who were living together, unfortunately his Mother and Brother passed away soon after and now Roger, my Father, is fighting for his life.
He was originally being treated from home, the doctors at the beginning detected 20% of lung compromise and they found 98% saturation, my Father has suffered from asthma and consequently they detected Pneumonia due to COVID, we immediately putt him on oxygen, which the amount needed increased little by little, we had nurses and doctors taking care of him but my father's situation wouldn’t improve, his oxygen saturation was going down each day reaching 70%, but it was on Saturday, April 10 at 3am that it got even worse, and we had to immediately admit him to the Cayetano Heredia Hospital in Piura Perú, they took tests again when he was admitted, the results were that my father's pulmonary involvement was no longer 20%, it was 90% and his saturation was still unstable, rising to 92 and falling to 87 with 15ml of oxygen, now he finds himself with a resurrection breathing mask, with a 60ml oxygen device and still struggling a lot.
My dad urgently needs an ICU bed or a mechanical ventilator, which they are selling between $19,800 - $22,000, or a rental for $1,200 a day with a starting price of $500, it’s ridiculous how people make a living off someone else’s fight for life, an ICU bed is 50,000 soles every 10-12 days with 3,000 more soles per treatment, (that’s $15,000 dollars) if my dad needed more than 10 to 12 days thats calculates to almost $29,000 dollars that would be needed, the expenses are massive, not even counting the expenses for his complete recovery.
Doctors indicate that he is strong and is fighting for his life but getting him a mechanical ventilator he is crucial to his health.
Our Family is doing everything possible to cover the medical and temporary costs generated up to this moment, but we need your help, kindness and support from all of you to be able to front the expenses that are needed.
We thank you all in advance for all of your love and support during this difficult time.
