HELP ME BRING MY MOTHER AND LITTLE BROTHER TO SAFETY

My name is Mohammed Abu Shaer. I’m 31 and I am from Jabalia Refugee Camp in Northern Gaza. I love books, reading and writing, drawing, philosophy, and taking care of my balcony plants. I now live in Cairo, Egypt, where I am forcibly displaced. My mother and little brother are trapped in Rafah, living in a tent. This is our story.

I came to Cairo in August 2023 for medical reasons. In 2021, I got stuck under the rubble due to an airstrike on my building in Jabalia. Because of multiple medical issues that I have been carrying with me as a result of this, I still need treatment until today, which I undergo multiple times a week in Cairo. After I arrived in Cairo, my youngest son ٍSanad was born.

I never got to see him, never got to hold him. On 17 March 2024, my worst nightmare became a reality: my beloved wife Rajae and our three little boys were killed in an airstrike in Deir El Balah in Central Gaza, where they had sought refuge. Sanad was 2 months old, Abdelaziz 7 years old, and Tariq 5 years old. Keeping my head above water emotionally has been a living hell ever since.

My mother Intisar and little brother Yasir (11) are all I have left. Their home in Jabalia, which was close to the Indonesian Hospital, was destroyed and they have nowhere left to go. All our family's houses were completely reduced to rubble. My mother suffers from nerve issues, thyroid problems, poor vision, and is in an immense amount of pain. There is very little food and clean water available, and a military invasion into Rafah could be imminent. When we spoke on the phone recently, she cried and told me I am her only hope. Can you help me save them?

My family is desperate to leave Rafah and join me in Cairo, where I rent a small apartment. To bring them to safety, we need to pay an exorbitant fee. The purpose of this fundraiser, which I’m organizing with Ashley, is to raise enough funds to cover the costs of travel, the entry fee into Egypt from Gaza, rent, medical costs, and basic necessities for my family until we can get back on our feet. To reach this goal, we must raise 39,650 USD in total.
