I'm raising money so that I have the opportunity to attend the California Scholastic Press Association Journalism Workshop. This workshop has a very competitive acceptance rate and I was blessed with the chance to attend. I was chosen to be one of the twenty-five students to travel to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo for this summer workshop. The only thing stopping me from taking this amazing opportunity is tuition. The tuition for this program is $1,975, and this doesn't include transportation or any other personal expenses. All of this is due by Friday, May 10th. Anything that you can donate will be greatly appreciated and will help me towards my goal.
About me
I’m a sophomore in high school with a big dream of becoming a journalist. Currently, I’m the online editor for my school’s newspaper, The Booster Redux. I’m slowly working on reaching my dream and this workshop will help me get there. Even though I still have a lot to learn, I’m proud of the progress I’ve made because of my family past. My parents have both struggled with alcohol and drug abuse, which lead them to drop out of school. At a young age, I moved away from my mother in search of making a better life for myself and becoming something I can be proud of. I’m breaking the cycle that my parents continued and this is an opportunity to better myself. No donation is too small and every donation puts me closer to my dream. What am I raising money for?
I'm raising money so that I have the opportunity to attend the California Scholastic Press Association Journalism Workshop. This workshop has a very competitive acceptance rate and I was blessed with the chance to attend. I was chosen to be one of the twenty-five students to travel to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo for this summer workshop.
Why do I want to attend?
This summer workshop will help me achieve my dream of becoming a journalist and will set me on the right path for success. I will get to attend thirteen days of learning, that will cover a number of various subjects. Attending this program will make me a more versatile journalist and will be an amazing learning opportunity.
What all will I learn?
While at the workshop, I will get a chance to work in different forms of journalism and have the opportunity to explore different areas of the field. These courses include Print, TV, Online Production and more.
How much will it cost?
I’m estimating the total cost to be around $3,500. I broke it down into different expected expenses:
The tuition for this program is $1,975
The cost of transportation estimated around $500-$650
Personal and other expenses are estimated at around $50-$100
Why should you donate?
Being accepted into this program is a blessing and an honor within itself, and I’m going to do everything in my power to attend this workshop. My dream is to become a journalist one day and this is an important stepping stone to help me achieve my dream. I’d label myself as a hard worker and I’m ready to put in as much work as it takes to go the CSPA workshop this summer.
