My name is Matthew Driggers, and I need your help. I’m 41 years old, a husband, a father of two, a step-father of two, and dealing with some medical problems I’m trying to get diagnosed properly.
I work a lot of overtime every week to take care of my family, and my wife, bless her, works part time and takes care of the kids because childcare is so expensive. Yet, in this economy, we still live paycheck to paycheck with virtually no wiggle room.
Recently, after getting blood work done to figure out some symptoms I’ve had for a long time, I was discovered to have iron deficiency anemia with some very low numbers for serum iron and saturation. A man with iron deficiency anemia is very unusual, and usually points to gastrointestinal blood loss due to ulcers, polyps, or possibly cancer, or some other chronic condition.
My doctor has scheduled me for both an endoscopy and a colonoscopy to check things out, but I have to meet my insurance deductible out of pocket, and I will have to miss a couple of days of work for prep and the procedure. I have to go on clear liquids starting at breakfast the day before and colon prep the afternoon before the procedure, and I work a sometimes physically demanding outdoor field job. Since we live paycheck to paycheck, we are unable to pay for the procedure or have me miss work. We are also unable to get a loan because we can’t afford to owe anyone or add another bill.
I’m trying to raise $2500 by January 7, 2026 to cover my deductible and lost overtime wages. My procedure is January 8th. Any help you can give would be appreciated by my family and me!
